Finance Minister: Budget deficit fell to 1% of GDP in the first three months of 2026

Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare announced Thursday that the budget deficit in the first months of 2026 fell to 22 billion lei, from approximately 44 billion lei in the same period of 2025. SPECIFICALLY, as a share of the economy, this represents a reduction from 2.3% of GDP to 1%.
